Until the \'900 the house was used as a workshop to construct and repair gondolas and other typical Venetian boats. The name “Squero” is derived from an instrument used in these restorations which in Venetian dialect is called “squara” (square).
During the restoration of the house, the original docks were replaced by wood-pillings and cement to garantee and ensure a sturdy fondation.
